Measurement Guide
Follow this guide to accurately measure your windows for the perfect fit. Precise measurements ensure your window coverings look great and function properly.
What You'll Need
Tape Measure or Laser Measure
A metal tape measure is recommended for accuracy. Laser measures also work well.
Notepad & Pencil
Record measurements in Width × Height format. Double-check before ordering.
Important Tips
- Measure to the nearest 1/8 inch (or 0.1 cm) for the most accurate fit
- For inside mounts, order the exact opening size with no deductions — our factory applies approximately 0.2" (0.5 cm) reduction
- For outside mounts, no deductions needed — measure the total coverage area you want
Measure for Inside Mount
Inside mount gives a clean, built-in look with the shade fitting inside the window frame. This is the most popular choice for a sleek appearance.
Step 1: Measure Width
Measure the inside width of the window frame at three locations: top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement as your width.
Step 2: Measure Height
Measure the inside height at three points: left, center, and right. Use the largest measurement as your height.
Step 3: Check Depth
Ensure your window frame has sufficient depth for the product. Refer to the depth requirements table below.
Note: Order the exact measurements. We will deduct approximately 0.2" (0.5 cm) during production for proper clearance.

Measure for Outside Mount
Outside mount covers the entire window frame and extends beyond it. This is ideal for windows with minimal depth or when you want maximum light blockage.
Step 1: Determine Coverage Area
Decide how much area you want the shade to cover. Mark the desired mounting points.
Step 2: Measure Width & Height
Measure the total width and height of the area you want to cover.
Step 3: Add Extra Coverage
Recommended: Add 2-3 inches on each side to reduce light infiltration around the edges.
Note: For outside mounts, order the exact size you want — no deductions will be made.
Installation Depth Requirements
Before choosing an inside mount, verify that your window frame has sufficient depth. Measure from the front edge of the frame to the back.
| Product Type | Without Valance | With Valance |
|---|---|---|
| Single Roller | 2 5/8" | 3 1/8" |
| Double Roller | 4 5/8" | 5 1/8" |
If your window frame doesn't have enough depth, consider an outside mount instead.
