New Federal Safety Standard
Effective November 02, 2022
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved a new federal safety standard for custom window coverings to address strangulation risks for children 8 years old and younger. This standard focuses on all types of window cords and mandates that operating cords on custom-made window coverings cannot be longer than 40% the height of the window covering unless the customer specifically requests a custom cord length.

The Window Covering Manufacturers Association (WCMA) established key regulations requiring that cords on any custom-made window covering cannot be longer than 40% the height of the window covering unless the customer specifically requests a custom cord length.
